Allahabad HC Stays Appointment Letters For 4,543 UP Police SI Posts

The Allahabad High Court has stayed the issuance of appointment letters for 4,543 posts under the Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment 2025. The Court will hear the matter next on October 5.

The bench of Justice Anees Kumar Gupta passed the order while hearing petitions filed by Shyam Sundar, Kamlesh Yadav and others, and Yash Pandey along with 44 other candidates.

Senior Advocate Ashok Khare, along with Advocates Sanjay Kumar Yadav and Alok Mishra, appeared for the petitioners.

The recruitment drive, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, seeks to fill Sub-Inspector posts in the Civil Police and equivalent positions. The Board issued the recruitment notification on August 12, 2025.

The recruitment process attracted 15,75,706 applications. The written examination was held on March 14 and 15 in two shifts each day, with around 10.77 lakh candidates appearing for the test.

The Board declared the written examination results on May 7.

The petitions were filed after candidates raised objections to changes made to certain questions in the examination. The petitioners alleged that the recruitment board failed to consider their objections, prompting them to approach the Allahabad High Court.

The High Court has now stayed the issuance of appointment letters for the 4,543 posts, with the matter listed for further hearing on October 5.
