Jantar Mantar Protest: CJP Activists Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka Remanded To 5 Days' Judicial Custody

A Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) court on Wednesday remanded Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) activists Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to five days of judicial custody.

The Delhi Police detained Das, Ranka and another CJP activist, Ajinkya Shinde, on October 13 for allegedly entering the barricaded Jantar Mantar protest site by climbing over its gates.

The incident took place a day after the Delhi Police de-notified Jantar Mantar as a designated protest venue. While Das and Ranka were remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday, Shinde was released.

The CJP activists have been protesting alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
