Sibal President, Yadav Secretary, Srivastav V.P. elected of SCBA

While Kapil Sibal Sr Advocate was elected as President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Vikrant Yadav was elected Secretary and Sr. Advocate Rachna Srivastav was elected as the Vice President.

While Sibal won with a good margin, Vikrant Yadav's win was in a neck-to-neck fight.  He defeated his close contestant Meenesh Dubey by 43 Votes. 

The winning margin of Sr. Advocate Rachna Srivastav for the post of Vice President was also not very comfortable. She defeated Sukumar Pattajoshi by 31 votes. She secured 815 Votes while Pattajoshi got 784 Votes.

The counting for the rest of the posts would take place on Saturday 18th May, 2024. 

Kapil Sibal defeated Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai by 377 Votes. Pradeep Rai had remained Vice-President of SCBA two times earlier. Sibal had remained President of the Association thrice before he became Minister in the UPA Government. 

Yadav has also served as the Secretary of the Association earlier. Rohit Pandey is replaced by Yadav on the post.

The election of the Supreme Court Bar Association took place on May 16 where the advocates voted even though it was very hot out there and long queues were witnessed. 

For the post of President there were a total of 06 candidates including the incumbent president Adish Aggarwala who stood third in the present election. Priya Hingorani was the only woman candidate.

For the post of Vice-President there were 07 candidates. 02 woman candidates tried their luck on the post and Rachna Srivastava was successful. The other woman Candidate Pareena Swaroop had also remained Secretary 4 times. 

For the post of Secretary, there were a total of 10 candidates. Amongst them, there was only one woman candidate.

The post of Treasurer is reserved for women.
