The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on June 2, 2026, approved the proposal for the appointment of Amit Lahoti, Advocate, as a Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh.
Amit Lahoti comes from a distinguished legal family with deep roots in the Indian judiciary. He is the son of Justice K.K. Lahoti, a former Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and a well-known figure in the legal fraternity.
Notably, Justice K.K. Lahoti was also the brother of Justice R.C. Lahoti, who served as the 35th Chief Justice of India and remains one of the most respected figures in the country's judicial history.
The Collegium's recommendation marks the continuation of a family legacy that has significantly contributed to the Indian justice system across generations. Following the Collegium's approval, the proposal will now be forwarded to the Central Government for processing and issuance of the warrant of appointment.
