Ali Khan Mahmudabad, a professor at Ashoka University, has approached the Supreme Court seeking relief following his arrest by the Haryana Police over a Facebook post related to 'Operation Sindoor.'

Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal mentioned the matter for urgent hearing before Chief Justice of India BR Gavai on Monday.

"Mylords, a professor at Ashoka University has been proceeded against for an entirely patriotic statement on Operation Sindoor. Mylords may kindly list it immediately," Sibal submitted.

Responding to the request, CJI Gavai agreed to list the matter for hearing the day after tomorrow.

Professor Mahmudabad was remanded to two days’ police custody by a Magistrate yesterday.
