The Bombay High Court has temporarily restrained the release of the film Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao, on OTT platforms or any alternative medium for eight weeks following its theatrical debut in PVR Inox cinemas.
This interim relief was granted after PVR Inox approached the court, objecting to the producers’ decision to bypass theatres and opt for a direct OTT release, citing concerns over national security in light of the ongoing India-Pakistan tensions.
According to PVR Inox, the producers — Maddock Films — violated their agreement by choosing not to release the film theatrically, which the cinema chain claims constitutes a breach of contract.
