The Central government has approved the appointment of Advocate Preeta Aravindan Krishnamma as a judge of the Kerala High Court. The development was announced by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal through a post on X.
Preeta AK brings decades of experience practicing before the Kerala High Court. Her elevation was recommended earlier this month by the Supreme Court Collegium.
The Collegium had also proposed the elevation of Advocate Liz Mathew, who practices before the Supreme Court. However, her appointment is yet to be formally notified by the Centre.
The Kerala High Court, with a sanctioned strength of 47 judges, is currently functioning with 38. Following Preeta’s swearing-in, the number of vacancies will reduce to eight.
