Central Govt notifies transfer of Justice Dinesh Mehta from Rajasthan to Delhi High Court

Justice Dinesh Mehta Transferred from Rajasthan High Court to Delhi High Court

New Delhi: The Central Government has notified the transfer of Justice Dinesh Mehta from the Rajasthan High Court to the Delhi High Court.

According to the official notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice:

“In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Dinesh Mehta, Judge, Rajasthan High Court, to be a Judge of the Delhi High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Delhi High Court.”

Justice Mehta, who was born on January 28, 1968, holds degrees in B.Com. (Hons.), A.C.A., and LL.B. He was enrolled as an advocate on September 6, 1992, and later elevated to the Bench on November 16, 2016.

Before his elevation, Justice Mehta had an extensive practice spanning across diverse branches of law including Taxation, Arbitration, Banking, Company, Electricity, Environment, Insurance, Agrarian, and Municipal Laws. He also handled significant cases involving Constitutional, Contractual, Mining, Election, Civil, Service, and Industrial disputes.

He served as Standing Counsel for major corporations such as Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL), and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.

Additionally, he was a Panel Lawyer for Oriental Insurance Company Limited, United India Insurance Company Limited, and the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI), and also appeared for National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Hindustan Zinc Limited, Rajasthan Financial Corporation (RFC), and Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Earlier in his career, between 1999 and 2003, Justice Mehta remained on the panel of Indira Gandhi Nahar Pariyojana (IGNP).

Justice Mehta’s residential address is listed as ‘Sayar-Sadan’, 182, Ajeet Colony, Near Circuit House, Jodhpur – 342006.

With his transfer to the Delhi High Court, Justice Mehta brings to the Bench over three decades of rich experience in litigation and adjudication across multiple legal domains.
