The Central government on Wednesday notified the appointment of seven advocates as judges of the Patna High Court.
Advocates Ranjan Kumar Jha, Kumar Manish and Raj Kumar have been elevated as permanent judges, while advocates Rana Vikram Singh, Vikash Kumar, Girijish Kumar and Alok Kumar have been appointed as additional judges of the High Court.
The appointments come after the Supreme Court Collegium, in February this year, recommended the names of nine advocates for elevation to the Patna High Court Bench.
However, the appointments of advocates Md Nadim Seraj and Sanjeev Kumar, whose names were also recommended by the Collegium, are yet to receive clearance from the Central government.
With the latest appointments, the Patna High Court is functioning with 37 judges against its sanctioned strength of 53.
