A Delhi court on Thursday granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in a case registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) over alleged irregularities in the tendering process for sewage treatment plant projects of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB).

Special Judge (PC Act) Digvinay Singh of the Rouse Avenue Courts passed the bail order.

Jain was arrested by the ACB on August 18 in connection with allegations of manipulation in the tendering process for DJB sewage treatment plant projects. He has been booked under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code.

The case was registered in May 2024 following a complaint by the Directorate of Vigilance. The allegations relate to the alleged manipulation of tender conditions, criminal conspiracy and suspected payment of bribes in connection with contracts for the upgradation of sewage treatment plants operated by the Delhi Jal Board.

The prosecution has alleged irregularities in the tendering process and suspected financial misconduct linked to the awarding of the contracts.

Jain's arrest had earlier come under judicial scrutiny. On August 19, the court had rejected his plea challenging the arrest as illegal.

With Thursday's order, Jain has now been granted bail in the ACB case concerning the alleged irregularities in the DJB sewage treatment plant tenders.
