Delhi HC Allows Rajpal Yadav to Travel to Australia for Film Promotions

The Delhi High Court on June 24 granted permission to Bollywood actor Rajpal Naurang Yadav to travel to Melbourne, Australia from June 27 to July 5 for promotional events related to his upcoming film “Mera Kale Rang Da Yaar.”

Vacation Judge Justice Rajneesh Kumar Gupta allowed the travel request subject to certain conditions. Yadav is required to furnish a Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) of ₹1 lakh with the Court Registry. He must also provide his active mobile number and email ID at the time of submitting the FDR, which are to remain operational throughout his stay in Australia.

The Court directed that Yadav’s passport, currently deposited with the Trial Court, be released for the duration of his travel and returned immediately upon his return to India. The case is listed next before the roster bench on July 8.

The application seeking permission to travel abroad was filed as part of a petition by Yadav and his wife challenging his conviction in a cheque bounce case under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

In June 2023, a coordinate bench of the High Court had suspended the sentence awarded by the trial court, noting that the petitioners were not habitual offenders. The Court had also advised the parties to explore the possibility of an amicable settlement through mediation. The case remains pending before the Delhi High Court Mediation Centre.

This is not the first time the High Court has permitted the actor and his wife to travel abroad during the pendency of the case.
