Delhi HC Says It Will Direct Removal of AI-Generated Pornographic Content Featuring Ravi Kishan

The Delhi High Court on Thursday said it would pass an interim order directing the removal of obscene, derogatory and AI-generated content targeting actor-politician Ravi Kishan while hearing his plea seeking protection of his personality rights.

Justice Jyoti Singh observed that various defendants and social media intermediaries would be directed to take down objectionable content, including AI-generated pornographic material and other allegedly defamatory posts featuring Kishan.

The Court further indicated that Google would be required to remove web links to such content flagged by Kishan if the person or entity responsible for uploading it failed to take it down within one week of receiving a copy of the Court's order.

Appearing for Kishan, Senior Advocate N. Hariharan submitted that obscene and pornographic material, along with derogatory Instagram reels featuring the actor, had been circulating online without his consent.

According to the plea, the defendants were unlawfully exploiting Kishan's celebrity status, goodwill and public persona to attract traffic to their websites and social media platforms for commercial gain.

Kishan has also challenged a radio segment titled "What is Love with Kavi Kishan" aired on Ishq 104.8 FM, alleging that it commercially used his name, image and likeness without authorisation. The plea further states that an AI-generated video impersonating him is available on Ishq FM's official Instagram account.

After hearing the submissions, the Court indicated that it would pass a detailed interim order directing the removal of content that prima facie infringes Kishan's personality rights.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on October 15.

Senior Advocates N. Hariharan and Sanjay Upadhaya appeared for Kishan, along with advocates Neeraj Grover, Krishna Kumar Shukla, Madhav Anand, Pranav Prasoon, Alvin Antony, Mansi Bachani, Kunal Khanna and Kartik Mitra.
