The Delhi High Court on Friday witnessed chaos after receiving a bomb threat letter, warning of an explosion inside the court premises in the afternoon. As a precaution, judges abruptly adjourned hearings, and all benches rose before leaving their courtrooms.
Following the alert, lawyers, litigants, and staff were directed to vacate the building, and the premises was ordered to be cleared by 2 PM. The sudden evacuation led to frantic scenes both inside and outside the court complex.
A bomb disposal squad and security personnel were immediately deployed, with a specialized vehicle stationed outside to conduct thorough checks. Security has been tightened, and surveillance across the area was significantly increased.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are underway to trace the origin of the threatening letter and assess its credibility.
