The Delhi High Court on Tuesday observed that the judiciary should not be drawn into every issue arising out of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protests held in the national capital.

Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya made the remark when a lawyer sought urgent listing of a petition alleging that the Delhi Police used excessive force against protesters during Monday's demonstration.

Responding to the request, Chief Justice Upadhyaya said, "Don't drag the court into all this."

The matter was mentioned before a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia.

The protests were organised by students from across the country along with activists of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), an online satirical collective. Demonstrators gathered at Jantar Mantar and other parts of Central Delhi to demand accountability over repeated examination paper leaks and to seek the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The protesters had also planned to march towards Parliament House. However, Delhi Police stopped the march before it could proceed.

According to media reports, the police action allegedly involved a lathi charge and the use of tear gas, resulting in injuries to several protesters.

The petition mentioned before the High Court challenges the alleged use of excessive force by the Delhi Police during the protest.
