A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to a cook who was arrested in connection with the devastating fire at a hotel in Malviya Nagar that claimed 22 lives last month.

Additional Sessions Judge Samar Vishal allowed the bail plea of accused Keshar Negi, who had been taken into custody after investigators alleged that his negligence contributed to the outbreak of the fire on June 3.

The incident occurred at Flourish Stays Bed and Breakfast, located in the Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar. During the course of the investigation, police also detained and questioned several other persons associated with the establishment.

The hotel's owner, Lavkesh Bajaj, was arrested and booked on charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

According to officials, the building was operating without a mandatory fire No Objection Certificate (NOC), a key aspect under scrutiny in the ongoing investigation.
