Double Murder in Capital | Domestic Help Arrested

A woman and her 14-year-old son were found murdered in their Lajpat Nagar home in Delhi on Wednesday night. The accused, identified as Mukesh, who worked as the family’s driver and domestic help, has been arrested for the crime.

The victims, Ruchika Sewani (42) and her son Krish, were allegedly killed after an argument escalated when Ruchika reportedly scolded Mukesh. The accused allegedly slit their throats in a fit of rage before fleeing the scene.

The incident came to light around 9:30 PM when Ruchika's husband, Kuldeep Sewani, returned home from work and found the house locked. After failing to reach his wife and son by phone and noticing blood stains near the gate and staircase, he alerted the police.

Upon breaking open the door, police discovered Ruchika lying in a pool of blood beside the bed. Her son Krish, a Class 10 student, was found dead on the bathroom floor.

Ruchika and her husband jointly ran a garment shop in the Lajpat Nagar market. The accused, 24-year-old Mukesh from Bihar, lived in Amar Colony, not far from the Sewani residence. He was attempting to flee the city when police apprehended him. During initial questioning, he reportedly confessed to the murders.

The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and are analyzing CCTV footage and forensic evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events. The investigation is ongoing.
