Former Vice President of India and senior advocate Jagdeep Dhankhar cast his vote in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections, participating in the electoral process of the apex court’s bar body.

Dhankhar, who has had a long legal career and practised extensively before the Supreme Court, exercised his franchise among members of the SCBA as advocates voted to elect the association’s new office-bearers.

His participation assumes significance given his long association with the Supreme Court Bar. Dhankhar had been practising as a lawyer in the Supreme Court since the 1990s and was designated a Senior Advocate by the Rajasthan High Court in 1990.

The SCBA elections are closely followed within the legal fraternity as the association represents advocates practising before the Supreme Court and plays an important role in matters concerning the Bar and the administration of justice.

Dhankhar served as the 14th Vice President of India from August 2022 to July 2025 before returning to his legal and public engagements.

The polling saw participation from senior advocates and other members of the Supreme Court Bar, with the results expected to determine the leadership of the association for the forthcoming term.
