The Gujarat High Court has designated four advocates, including a woman lawyer, as Senior Advocates following a decision taken at a full court meeting held on January 8.
The four lawyers who have been conferred the gown are:
Amar Niranjan Bhatt,
Apurva Sharad Vakil,
Megha Bhupendra Jani, and Mitul Kirit Shelat.
Bhatt and Vakil were enrolled with the Bar in 1988 and 1989 respectively. Jani, the only woman among the four, was admitted to the Bar in 1993. Shelat, who enrolled in 1999, is the youngest advocate on the list.
The designations come in the backdrop of the High Court’s recent decision to introduce a minimum age requirement of 45 years for eligibility for designation as a Senior Advocate.
