Judicial officer Gurvinder Pal Singh was sworn in as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, taking the court’s total working strength to 50.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Delhi High Court premises.
The Central Government notified Singh’s appointment on October 5. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the appointment on X.
The notification stated that the President, exercising powers under the Constitution and after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, had appointed Singh as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium had on September 10 approved the proposal to appoint eight judicial officers as judges of the Delhi High Court, including Singh. While the appointments of the other seven judicial officers were notified earlier, Singh’s appointment had remained pending.
With his appointment, the Delhi High Court now has 50 sitting judges.
