Jharkhand Appoints Rohitashya Roy as Advocate General; Bihar AG Shahi Resigns

The Jharkhand government on Sunday appointed Advocate Rohitashya Roy as the State's new Advocate General (AG), following the resignation of Senior Advocate Rajiv Ranjan, who had held the post since 2020.

According to a notification issued by the State Law Department, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar accepted Ranjan's resignation and appointed Roy as the State's top law officer until further orders.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that Bihar Advocate General Prashant Kumar Shahi also tendered his resignation on Sunday.

Shahi was appointed Advocate General in 2023 during the tenure of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. His resignation comes in the wake of a change in the State's political leadership, with BJP leader Samrat Chaudhary recently taking oath as Chief Minister.

Shahi reportedly stepped down to facilitate the appointment of a new Advocate General by the incoming government.
