Justice KM Joseph got confused on abbreviation of two names in SC, lawyer told meaning and said- Ohh

Many times interesting incidents happen during the hearing in Courts. One such incident happened during a hearing on 2nd February. In the Supreme Court, a case was being heard in the court of Justice KM Joseph. When Justice Joseph was looking at the document, his eyes fell on the short form of two names. Justice KM Joseph got confused over these two names written on the document – "HMJ" and "SKK".

When he asked the concerned advocate what it meant, the advocate told that HMJ stands for "Honorable Mister Justice" and SKK stands for Justice "Sanjay Kishan Kaul". On this, Justice Joseph smiled and said "Ohh…"

Justice KM Joseph's full name is Kuttiyil Mathew Joseph. Born on 17 June 1958 in Kochi, Kerala, Justice Joseph did his early schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kochi and Delhi. Later he took admission in Loyla College, Chennai. Apart from this, he has studied law from Government Law College, Ernakulam. Justice Joseph started practicing as an advocate in the year 1982 in the Delhi High Court.

After a year, in the year 1983, he started practicing in the Kerala High Court. Considered an expert in civil and constitutional matters, Justice Joseph was appointed as a permanent judge of the Kerala High Court in October 2004, where he served for nearly 10 years. After this, in July 2014, he became the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court. He was appointed as a judge in the Supreme Court on 8 August 2018 following the recommendation of the collegium. Let us tell you that Justice KK Mathew, father of Justice KM Joseph, has also been a judge of the Supreme Court.
