The Central government has appointed Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud as the Acting Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, following the transfer of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh to the Telangana High Court.
Justice Goud will serve in the acting role until Justice MSR Ramachandra Rao, currently Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, assumes charge in Tripura.
The notification, issued on July 17, states that the appointment has been made under Article 223 of the Constitution of India.
Justice Goud began his legal career in 1990 and has experience in civil, criminal, and constitutional law. He has served as Arbitrator, Amicus Curiae, and Advocate Commissioner, and represented various institutions including the Nalgonda District Co-operative Central Bank.
He was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad in 2017 and joined the Tripura High Court on October 28, 2021. Over his judicial career, he has disposed of more than 87,000 cases.
