In a significant development in the Indian judiciary, Justice Vijay Bishnoi, a senior judge of the Rajasthan High Court, has been elevated to the Supreme Court of India. His appointment was formally notified following the recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice Gawai. Presently Justice Bishnoi is serving as Chief Justice of Guahati High Court.

Born in 1967, Justice Bishnoi’s legal career spans over three decades. He enrolled as an advocate in 1990 and built a strong reputation in civil, criminal, constitutional, and service law matters. He practiced extensively before the Rajasthan High Court and subordinate courts, showcasing a deep understanding of procedural and substantive law.

He was appointed as a judge of the Rajasthan High Court in 2012 and later became the senior-most puisne judge. During his tenure, he delivered several significant judgments, particularly in criminal law and public interest litigations.
