Karnataka Govt Appoints New Law Officers Following Leadership Change
The Karnataka government has appointed a new team of law officers to represent the State before various courts in the wake of the recent change in political leadership.
Advocate BN Jagadeesh has been elevated as State Public Prosecutor-I, replacing BA Belliyappa. According to the government order, his appointment will be effective for one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
In addition, Vijayakumar Majage has been appointed as State Public Prosecutor-II. Mohammed Ayub Ali Khan and Rashmi Jadav have been designated as Additional State Public Prosecutors.
The appointments have been made under Rule 23 of the Karnataka Law Officers (Appointments and Conditions of Service) Rules, 1977.
The reshuffle comes shortly after a change at the helm of the Congress-led Karnataka government. As part of a power-sharing arrangement, DK Shivakumar took oath as the Chief Minister earlier this month, succeeding Siddaramaiah, who stepped down from the post on May 28.
