The Kerala High Court has ordered stricter rules on taking photos and videos inside the Sabarimala temple. This comes after reports of people, including media and staff, breaking earlier court orders during the Mandala-Makaravilakku festival.
The Court said filming above the Pathinettampadi steps is strictly not allowed. It also banned the use of drones (helicams) and tripods in certain areas like the Sopanam and Melethirumuttam. Any live telecast of temple events must be done only from approved spots, with permission from temple and police officials.
The Travancore Devaswom Board has been asked to work with the temple priest (Tantri), police, and other authorities to create a new policy. Only media persons approved by their office and cleared by temple security will be given ID cards and allowed entry.
The Court is continuing to keep a close watch on the matter.
