Born on 23rd June 1962 in Nippani, Hon’ble Justice Prasanna Bhalachandra Varale pursued his education across various cities in Maharashtra, including Shahada, Shirpur, Nashik, Sangli, Buldhana, Latur, and Nanded.
He completed his law degree (LLB) from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar University.
Justice Varale began his legal career at the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court, where he practiced in both civil and criminal matters under the guidance of eminent lawyer Shri Satyanarayan Loya. Alongside his legal practice, he also contributed to academia as a Lecturer in Law at Dr. Ambedkar Law College, Aurangabad, from 1990 to 1992.
He went on to serve as Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor at the Aurangabad Bench and was also appointed as Additional Standing Counsel for the Union of India.
Justice Varale was elevated to the Bombay High Court on 18th July 2008. On 15th October 2022, he assumed charge as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
He was appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 25th January 2024.
Justice Varale is scheduled to retire on 22nd June 2027.
