The Registrar General of the Madras High Court received a threatening email on Monday warning of bomb blasts at the High Court premises, the CBI court complex, and the residence of Opposition Leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
The email also warned of a potential suicide bombing involving IEDs and set a deadline of 6:45 PM for authorities to evacuate the premises. In response, bomb disposal squads have been deployed, and a thorough security sweep is underway.
This marks the third bomb threat targeting a High Court in the past two months.
On May 22, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had received a similar threat, prompting courtroom evacuations.
The Gujarat High Court also received a bomb threat earlier today, leading to suspension of court proceedings post-lunch.
