CMS INDUSLAW has announced the appointment of Mehak Oberoi as a Partner in its Infrastructure & Projects and Construction team. She will be based at the firm's Delhi & NCR offices.
Oberoi is a 2008 graduate of Symbiosis Law School, Pune and holds an LLM in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from the School of Law, GD Goenka University.
Oberoi is a construction law specialist with nearly two decades of experience advising on complex EPC projects, FIDIC-governed contracts, cross-border transactions and disputes across the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors in the Asia-Pacific region.
Her practice covers the entire project lifecycle, including project strategy, contractual negotiations, risk allocation, claims and dispute avoidance, international arbitration, construction mediation and board-level governance.
She brings experience combining sector-specific legal expertise with commercial and strategic advice on major infrastructure and energy projects.
Oberoi is the author of “Constructive Counsel: Construction Law Explained” and “Construction Mediation: A Practical Handbook”, described as India's first sector-specific book dedicated to construction mediation.
She is also the Founder of ConstructHER Legal Network, an international practitioner-led platform operating across seven jurisdictions and focused on advancing women in construction, infrastructure and energy law.
Before joining CMS INDUSLAW, Oberoi served as Legal Head – Hydro, Asia-Pacific at GE Vernova, where she led legal strategy across the project lifecycle.
Her role involved advising commercial leadership and boards on governance, regulatory risks, joint ventures, restructuring and major capital transactions.
She had previously held legal positions across GE's renewable energy, transportation, manufacturing, grid solutions and oil and gas businesses.
Commenting on the appointment, Avimukt Dar and Suneeth Katarki, Founding & Senior Partners, said that Oberoi brings deep experience across construction, infrastructure, energy and complex projects, adding that her expertise would strengthen the firm's offering in the sector.
Oberoi said she was delighted to join CMS INDUSLAW and would focus on developing the firm's construction practice, particularly by supporting clients across the full project lifecycle—from contracting and risk allocation to claim avoidance, disputes and resolution.
She also said she looked forward to working with the firm's wider team and international platform to further strengthen its construction practice.
