The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) and the Delhi High Court have declared Friday, September 11, 2026, as a holiday in view of the upcoming 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit being hosted in New Delhi.

The decision comes amid extensive security, traffic and logistical arrangements being made across the national capital for the high-level international event. The BRICS Summit is scheduled to be held from September 11 to 13 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

The Delhi Government has already declared September 11 a holiday for government offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings under the Delhi Government. The decision has been taken considering the arrangements and anticipated movement restrictions associated with the summit.

The Supreme Court of India is also expected to declare September 11 as a holiday today, in view of the BRICS Summit and the resulting traffic and security restrictions in the national capital. The Supreme Court's existing 2026 calendar does not presently list September 11 as a scheduled holiday.

The holiday is expected to provide relief to lawyers, litigants and court staff who may otherwise face difficulties in reaching the courts due to extensive traffic diversions and security arrangements.

The BRICS Summit will bring together leaders and senior representatives from BRICS member and partner countries, along with heads of international organisations and business representatives. Authorities have been making extensive arrangements across Delhi to ensure smooth conduct of the summit.
