Justice M.M. Sundresh, while hearing arguments and granting relief in a criminal case, orally observed:
"Nobody becomes a criminal or an accused by choice. It is society that creates a situation, and then this grows."
After the conclusion of the hearing, he lightheartedly shared an anecdote from his younger days as a practicing advocate. He said:
"One day, a criminal was encountered, and a friend of mine, a practising lawyer, was very sad. I asked him, ‘This is a good thing, so why are you upset?’ My friend replied, ‘But he was my regular client.’"
This remark sparked a wave of laughter in the courtroom.
