Patna Court Extends Khan Sir's Arrest Protection Till June 30 in Coaching Institute Firing Case

A Patna court on Saturday extended the interim protection from arrest granted to educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, in connection with a case arising out of a firing incident at his coaching institute.

The case stems from an incident earlier this month in which Khan Sir's coaching institute was allegedly vandalised by a group of miscreants. During the episode, his security guards are accused of opening fire, following which an FIR was registered naming Khan Sir among the accused.

The court had earlier, on June 9, directed that no coercive action be taken against him.

At Saturday's hearing, the investigating officer submitted the updated case diary before the court. After taking it on record, the court deferred the matter for arguments until Tuesday and extended the interim protection granted to Khan Sir until then.

Speaking to reporters, Khan Sir's counsel, Arvind Kumar Mouar, said the court has continued the "no coercive action" order and fixed the matter for final arguments on June 30.

"The updated case diary has been submitted by the investigating officer. The matter has been listed for arguments on Tuesday, and the 'no coercive action' order against Khan Sir will remain in force till then. The final hearing is expected to take place on that day," Mouar said.

He added that the case involving Khan Sir's security guards, which arises out of the same incident, is also scheduled to be heard on Tuesday.

According to the defence, Khan Sir has been cooperating with the investigation and has been assisting the police throughout the probe.

The matter has now been listed for further hearing on June 30.
