POCSO Court grants life imprisonment to 26-year-old for sexually abusing three children

A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court has sentenced life imprisonment to a 26-year-old Nepali man, for sexually abusing three children.

The matter was presented before Judge Justice JD Suthar of Gujarat Court

In this matter, an incident took place back in September 2020, when the mother lodged a complaint against the man, identified as, Satyendra Dharmadevram.

In her complaint, the mother, a resident of Rajkot Mahanagar Palika quarter, stated that Satyendra -- a neighbour, had been touching the privates of her seven-year-old son and her six-year-old daughter.

Further, she also mentioned that he also committed a similar kind of assault on a seven-year-old girl living nearby, she added in her complaint.

Satyendra would also kiss the children's bodies and physically harm them if they cried or expressed pain, she stated.

When medical examinations were conducted on the children, revealing evidence of wounds on their private parts. Subsequently, the case was forwarded to the POCSO court in Rajkot.

During the trial, the defence lawyer argued that the wounds found on the children were old, hinting that the case was falsely registered for financial gain.

However, an additional government-appointed lawyer, PP Mukeshbhai Pipalia, countered this claim and said the accused himself had stated in the affidavit that the three children lived near his house. He also said that the children had identified Satyendra as the perpetrator of the abuse.
