The President of India has nominated Justice Vikram Nath, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as the Executive Chairperson of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), with effect from November 24, 2025.

The Ministry of Law and Justice issued an official notification announcing the nomination, invoking powers under Section 3(2)(b) of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987.

As per established judicial convention, the second most senior judge of the Supreme Court is appointed as the Executive Chairperson of NALSA, the national body responsible for providing free legal aid and promoting access to justice for the weaker sections of society.
