The Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association has asked its Executive Committee to step down from functioning with immediate effect, pursuant to a resolution adopted by the General House.

The decision follows internal discord within the Association, with members voicing a lack of confidence in the committee’s functioning. Acting on these concerns, the General House resolved that the Executive Committee should discontinue its duties.

The development points to escalating tensions within the leadership and marks a major administrative shift within the Bar body. Further decisions regarding the Association’s governance are expected to be taken in upcoming meetings.

The move gains added significance as bar bodies across Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are currently in the midst of election-related processes.
