Romeo Lane Fire Tragedy | Goa Court Rejects Bail Pleas of Nightclub Owners

The Goa Court today rejected the bail applications of Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, the owners of the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub where 25 people were killed in a devastating fire in December last year.

The fire had broken out on December 6, 2025, at the nightclub in Arpora village in North Goa while a dance party was underway. Around 50 others sustained injuries in the incident.

A sessions court in Mapusa town dismissed the bail pleas filed by the Luthra brothers.

Advocate Vishnu Joshi, who represented the families of the victims, termed the decision a victory for those fighting for justice. “The court has rejected the bail applications filed by the Luthra brothers, refusing to grant them any relief,” he said.

The Luthra brothers had fled to Thailand after the incident but were deported on December 17. They are presently lodged in the Colvale Central Jail in North Goa.

Advocate Parag Rao, appearing for the accused, said the detailed order is awaited and that they are considering further legal options, including approaching the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court for bail.
