SC Advocate Moves Representation Seeking Delay Of June 21 NEET-UG Re-Exam

Supreme Court advocate Vineet Jindal has submitted a representation on behalf of 1,467 NEET-UG aspirants seeking postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) re-examination scheduled for June 21, arguing that students are unfairly bearing the consequences of circumstances beyond their control.

Jindal shared details of the representation on his X account, stating that students should not be made to suffer due to the alleged paper leak incident.

“Students are not responsible for the paper leak incident, yet they are being forced to bear the burden of uncertainty, anxiety, and disruption. A fair opportunity, adequate preparation time, and consideration of students' mental well-being are essential,” the post said.

The representation highlighted that candidates who performed well in the original examination are particularly aggrieved, as they are now required to reappear for an examination despite having no involvement in the controversy.

It further stated that many aspirants had already concluded their preparation cycle and were preparing for subsequent stages such as counselling and admissions. The decision to conduct a re-examination has now placed them under significant psychological pressure to restart their preparations.

According to the representation, students have reported increased levels of stress, anxiety, difficulty concentrating and sleep disturbances due to the prevailing uncertainty.

The document also pointed out the additional challenges faced by candidates from rural and remote areas, who would have to make fresh arrangements for travel, accommodation and other logistical necessities at short notice.

In light of these concerns, Jindal urged the authorities to postpone the examination by at least one month and issue a revised schedule with adequate notice to ensure fairness and justice for all aspirants.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is scheduled to conduct the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on June 21 across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.
