SC Changes Bakrid Holiday Date To May 28, Court To Function On May 27

The Supreme Court of India has issued a circular changing the holiday date for Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) from Wednesday, May 27, 2026, to Thursday, May 28, 2026, in accordance with the Government of India’s declaration.

As per the circular issued by the Supreme Court’s Administrative General Branch on May 22, 2026, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India has directed that the Court and the Registry will remain functional on May 27, 2026, instead of observing a holiday on that day.

The circular further states that all matters earlier listed for May 28, 2026, will now stand preponed and will be taken up on May 27, 2026.
