SC Collegium Recommends Making Justice Biswadeep Bhattacharjee Permanent Judge of Meghalaya HC

The Supreme Court Collegium has proposed the elevation of Justice Biswadeep Bhattacharjee, currently serving as an additional judge of the Meghalaya High Court, to the position of permanent judge.

The recommendation was made during the Collegium's meeting held on July 1, 2025. The Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and comprising Justices Surya Kant and Vikram Nath, approved the move by converting Justice Bhattacharjee’s existing position into a permanent judgeship.

“The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 1st July 2025 has recommended for appointment of Shri Justice Biswadeep Bhattacharjee, Additional Judge, as a Permanent Judge of the High Court of Meghalaya after converting the existing post of Additional Judge into the post of a Permanent Judge,” read the official statement.
