The Supreme Court of India has conferred Senior Advocate designation on seven retired High Court judges following a full court meeting held on March 18 under the leadership of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.
As per an official notification issued on March 19, the designation takes immediate effect. The retired judges who have been elevated as Senior Advocates are:
Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal (former judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court)
Justice Harsha Nathalal Devani (former judge, Gujarat High Court)
Justice MS Ramesh (former judge, Madras High Court)
Justice Mauna M Bhatt (former judge, Gujarat High Court)
Justice RN Manjula (former judge, Madras High Court)
Justice Umesh Chandra Dhyani (former judge, Uttarakhand High Court)
Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul (former judge, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh)
The recognition marks their elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocates in the apex court.
