The Supreme Court has granted a stay on the ₹5,712-crore GST demand issued to First Games, a real-money gaming platform owned by Paytm parent One97 Communications. The update was shared through a regulatory filing on Saturday.
The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), New Delhi, had issued a show cause notice to First Games in April 2025.
"First Games informed us on May 24, 2025, at 10:44 am (IST) that in the writ petition filed against the notice, the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India stayed the proceedings on May 23," the filing stated.
One97 Communications noted that the tax dispute is not limited to First Games alone but is part of a wider issue affecting the gaming industry, which is currently being examined by the apex court.
