Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Three Judicial Officers for Appointment as Chhattisgarh High Court Judges

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of three judicial officers as judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

The recommendations were approved at the Collegium meeting held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

The three judicial officers recommended for elevation are:

  1. Santosh Sharma

  2. Sushma Sawant

  3. Sudhir Kumar

The recommendations come against the backdrop of a significant vacancy position in the Chhattisgarh High Court. The High Court currently has a working strength of 13 judges, against a sanctioned strength of 22 judges.

If approved and subsequently notified, the appointments would strengthen the Bench and help address the existing vacancies in the High Court.
