Vijay Narayan Likely To Be Tamil Nadu Advocate General Under TVK Government

Senior Advocate Vijay Narayan is expected to be appointed as the next Advocate General of Tamil Nadu following the recent change in government led by actor-turned-politician Vijay and his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Sources indicate that the new government has finalized Narayan’s name for the post of the State’s top law officer. He is set to replace PS Raman, who served as Advocate General during the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) regime.

This will mark Narayan’s second stint as Advocate General, having earlier held the office from 2017 to 2021. Designated as a Senior Advocate in 2004, he currently serves as the President of the Madras Bar Association.

Narayan belongs to a distinguished legal family. He is the nephew of former Attorney General for India KK Venugopal. His paternal grandfather was renowned jurist MK Nambiar, while his maternal grandfather was Sardar KM Panikkar, who was a member of the Constituent Assembly.

Outgoing Advocate General PS Raman is an alumnus of Loyola College and the Madras Law College. He had worked in the chambers of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram early in his legal career.
