YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra Sent to Judicial Custody in Case Involving Alleged Links with Pakistani Intelligence Officers

A Hisar court on Monday remanded YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra to judicial custody till June 9 in connection with a case alleging her contact with certain Pakistani Intelligence Officers (PIOs).

Malhotra was arrested by the Hisar Police on May 16 under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Official Secrets Act. She was initially placed in police custody for five days, which was later extended by an additional four days. On completion of her police remand, she was presented before a judicial magistrate who ordered her transfer to judicial custody.

During the investigation, authorities seized three mobile phones, a laptop, and other electronic devices from Malhotra, which have been sent for forensic analysis. She has also been interrogated by multiple investigating agencies during her time in custody.

Amid speculation in the media, the police recently issued a statement to dispel misinformation circulating about the case. The statement clarified that, so far, no evidence has emerged indicating that Malhotra had access to any military, defence, or strategic information. The forensic analysis of the seized devices is still awaited.

The police further noted that they have found no links between Malhotra and any terrorist organization, nor any involvement in terrorist activities. Additionally, they confirmed that there is no evidence suggesting she was married to a PIO or that she had converted to another religion.
