6 (Six) Addl. Judges made Permanent at Bombay High Court by the Supreme Court Collegium

The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal to appoint six Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court as Permanent Judges. The decision was taken during the Collegium meeting held on May 18, 2026.

The judges whose names have been cleared for permanent elevation are:

(i) Ms. Justice Nivedita Prakash Mehta,
(ii) Shri Justice Prafulla Surendrakumar Khubalkar,
(iii) Shri Justice Ashwin Damodar Bhobe,
(iv) Shri Justice Rohit Wasudeo Joshi,
(v) Shri Justice Advait Mahendra Sethna, and
(vi) Shri Justice Pravin Sheshrao Patil.

The approval by the Collegium marks an important step in strengthening the judicial functioning of the Bombay High Court, one of the country’s busiest constitutional courts. The recommendations will now be sent to the Central Government for issuance of formal appointment notifications.
