The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the names of nine judicial officers and ten advocates for appointment as judges of the Madras High Court. The decision was taken during a Collegium meeting held on May 18, marking a significant expansion of the strength of the High Court.
Among the judicial officers recommended is the present Registrar General of the Madras High Court. The recommendations were based on proposals forwarded between November and December last year.

There are 3 women Judicial Officers and One Woman Advocate, making it 4 women candidates in the list of 19.
Madras high Court send its recommandations on 4 different dates and it has been pending before the Supreme Court and Government for more than 6 months. Proposal dates are 04th November, 2025. 21st November, 2025, 07th December, 2025 and 10th December, 2025.
The Collegium’s recommendations will now be forwarded to the Central Government for further processing and issuance of appointment notifications.
