Journalist Anjana Om Kashyap and TV Today Network have approached the Delhi High Court seeking removal of allegedly defamatory remarks made by popular educator Faisal Khan, widely known as "Khan Sir," in connection with comments made during the debate surrounding "star teachers" and the NEET examination system.
The defamation suit, titled ANJANA OM KASHYAP & ANR v. FAISAL KHAN & ORS, seeks damages of ₹2 crore and the removal of content allegedly published on various online and social media platforms.
According to the plea, Khan Sir allegedly used expressions such as "bikau patrakar" (sold-out journalist), "chatukar," "dalali," and "fake news ki dukaan" while referring to Kashyap and her reporting. The petitioners contend that these remarks are defamatory and have caused harm to their reputation.
The dispute traces its origin to a live debate on the NEET examination system, during which Kashyap allegedly criticized certain online educators, describing them as "frauds" and content creators focused on gaining views. Following the debate, Khan Sir is alleged to have made the impugned statements, leading to the present legal proceedings.
The matter is scheduled to be heard by a vacation bench of the Delhi High Court presided over by Justice Neena Bansal Krishna.
The petitioners have sought directions for the removal of the allegedly defamatory content from digital platforms and compensation of ₹2 crore for the alleged damage to their reputation.
