Chief Justice of Delhi HC Urges Karkardooma Bar to Resume Work, Assures Action on Digital Court Concerns

Amid ongoing protests over the shifting of digital courts, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on Monday urged members of the Karkardooma Bar Association to end their strike and return to work, assuring that all concerns regarding the functioning of digital courts will be addressed promptly.

The Karkardooma Bar Association had abstained from work on July 1 and July 5 and launched an indefinite hunger strike from July 3, opposing the relocation of Negotiable Instruments (NI) digital courts from the Karkardooma Court complex to Rouse Avenue Courts.

According to a letter issued by the Registrar General of the High Court, the Chief Justice met with representatives of various bar associations and members of the coordination committee, including Bar Council of India Vice Chairperson V.P. Sharma and D.K. Singh from the Bar Council of Delhi. During the meeting, the lawyers highlighted their grievances over the shifting of digital courts.

Following these discussions, the Chief Justice requested the Karkardooma lawyers to resume work immediately and assured them that their issues would be addressed at the institutional level.

The letter further stated that the Chief Justice asked the coordination committee to submit a consolidated written representation outlining the problems faced by members across different bar associations. He also expressed his commitment to ensuring smooth functioning of all courts across the capital.
