CJI BR Gavai Extends Free Public Wi-Fi to Entire Supreme Court Main Building

In a step towards strengthening digital infrastructure and enhancing accessibility, Chief Justice of India BR Gavai on Friday announced that free public Wi-Fi will now be available throughout the entire main building of the Supreme Court of India.

Previously, Wi-Fi access was restricted to courtrooms and select adjoining areas. Announcing the expansion, the CJI said,

“With the aim of strengthening digital infrastructure and providing Wi-Fi connectivity to lawyers, law officers, litigants, and court officers within the Court premises, the facility of free public Wi-Fi, which was earlier limited to courtrooms and a few adjoining areas, has now been extended to cover the entire precincts of the main building of the Supreme Court of India.”

CJI Gavai emphasized that this initiative will make it easier for lawyers, litigants, and visitors to stay connected and access necessary online resources seamlessly through a simple authentication process.

“I am hopeful that this simple measure will benefit the learned members of the Bar as well as the litigants who come to the Court,” he added.

The move aligns with the judiciary’s broader push toward digital transformation, ensuring that the Supreme Court remains a tech-enabled and accessible institution for all stakeholders.
