Delhi Court Directs Removal of YouTube Video Alleging Sexual Assault Against Chattarpur Guruji

Recently, a Delhi court passed an interim order directing the removal of an allegedly defamatory YouTube video that made allegations of fraud, cheating and sexual assault against the late Nirmal Singh Maharaj, popularly known as “Chattarpur waale.”

Recently, in its order, District Judge Sachin Mittal held that the content of a YouTube video targeting late Nirmal Singh Maharaj was prima facie defamatory and capable of causing irreparable harm to the reputation of Guruji Ka Ashram Trust, its trustees and devotees.

The court directed YouTube and its operators to take down the impugned video within two days and restrained the creators, along with all others, from publishing or circulating similar defamatory material until the next date of hearing.

The order was passed in a civil suit filed by Guruji Ka Ashram Trust, which manages the spiritual institution founded by Singh, a figure who continues to enjoy a massive following across Delhi and the National Capital Region even years after his demise.

The Trust sought permanent and mandatory injunctions as well as damages, alleging that a video uploaded on January 15, 2026, on the YouTube channel “Molitics” was grossly defamatory.

Further, the court noted a technical defect in the plaint, observing that a public charitable trust is not a juristic person. Exercising powers under Order I Rule 10 of the Code of Civil Procedure, the court directed amendment of the cause title to reflect the plaintiff as “Guruji Ka Ashram Trust, through its Trustee”.

While considering the plea for urgent interim relief, the court took note of the Trust’s submission that the video—titled “Jai Guru Ji ke bhakt thagi, balatkaar aur fraud mein shaamil hai? | Fraud Baba by Neeraj Jha”—used highly disparaging terms such as “loot”, “thagi”, “fraud baba” and “balatkaar”, both in the content and its thumbnail
