Delhi HC Moved for Independent Probe into JEE (Main) 2025 Irregularities

A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking an independent investigation into alleged systemic lapses in the conduct of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025.

The plea, moved by JEE aspirant Shashank Shekhar Pandey through advocate Priyanshu Upadhyay, is scheduled for hearing before Justice Vikas Mahajan on Thursday.

Pandey claims that he attempted 46 questions during the exam, but the response sheet uploaded by the National Testing Agency (NTA) reflected only 29 attempted responses. The discrepancy, he argues, has led to the exclusion of 17 attempted questions—worth more than 65 marks—from his evaluation.

“As a direct consequence of this discrepancy, the petitioner has been unfairly awarded an NTA Score of 88.5434015—substantially lower than what he would have received had all attempted questions been properly recorded—thereby causing irreparable harm to his academic prospects,” the plea states.

The petition further alleges errors in the official answer key released by the NTA and calls for its rectification. It argues that such lapses are not isolated incidents but part of a recurring pattern affecting numerous students each year.

In light of these concerns, the plea seeks the following reliefs:

  • An independent inquiry into the conduct of the JEE (Main) 2025;

  • An extension of the registration deadline for JEE (Advanced);

  • Implementation of a robust grievance redressal mechanism for students;

  • Re-evaluation of Pandey’s score based on his actual attempted questions.

The matter is expected to raise important questions about transparency and accountability in the national-level engineering entrance examination.
